Manuport Logistics

Improving logistics management for Manuport Logistics with a new customer portal

Manuport Logistics already had a portal to manage its clients’ logistics operations. We are rebuilding the platform with a fresh look, a more user-friendly design, and new features while keeping the core functionalities intact.

Challenge

Manuport Logistics had an existing portal that allowed customers and employees to track the latest status of their containers and shipments. But the platform was starting to show its age. It was slow, and making updates or improvements took time and effort. Some features were missing or didn’t work well, like being able to sort columns, use filters, or search through tables easily, which is a core aspect of the platform.

Instead of just giving the portal a new look, it made more sense to take a step back and rethink how everything should work to make things faster, more precise, and more useful for everyone.

The solution

To help Manuport Logistics improve its logistics management, we built a new version of the portal with:

  • An updated front-end using modern technologies and Node.js for the back-end.

  • Improved user management with Microsoft Entra integration for logging in.

  • New role and permission settings so companies can add employees and manage access.

  • A user-friendly design that aligns with the existing branding while keeping the layout familiar.

Our approach

Since the new portal needed to match the previous one closely, we focused on performance and usability while making small improvements. We used an agile development process and iterative testing to refine the features. One of the biggest challenges was the missing data from the new API, which forced us to adjust our approach and find solutions along the way.

We set up workshops to focus on understanding what each core functionality was trying to achieve. We focused on user journeys: What should users be able to do? What data do they need? Should they be able to filter, sort, or take action on that data? Based on these sessions, we created wireframes and moved on to UI design.

We used Shad.cn as a UI-kit reference—predefined components that help developers implement interfaces efficiently. While this offered a great foundation, we also customized many components to fit Manuport Logistics’s specific needs. Eventually, we translated the workshop insights into a fully branded design system and UI.

Development started after our designs were finalized. This allowed developers to hit the ground running with a clear visual and functional foundation rather than copying over the old system.

The outcome

  • More efficient logistics management for planners, customers, and truck drivers.

  • Better user access and permissions allowing companies to manage their own employees.

  • A modernized, easier-to-use design without changing core functions, tailored to the industry’s specific content.

  • Smoother and faster operations, even with API delays, thanks to smart handling of complex third-party integrations.

  • A successful launch within a high-pressure deadline, as the old platform was nearing its end-of-life.
